How would you describe your role?
What could be better than learning all about cool companies that impact how we all live on this planet. Well, the icing on the cake is talking about these opportunities with our investors and prospective investors who are interested in supporting the entrepreneurs that know how to move the needle and positively disrupt the status quo in health care and IT.
What about your background led you to VCapital?
Four+ decades, running, buying, and selling companies. Working in industries from banking to landscaping to electronics to graphic arts to professional services and now venture capital. My 15 years working with two Top Ten Accounting firms fueled my interest in private equity and led me to venture capital.
I have a passion for new and exciting technologies. I studied History at the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign) and earned an MBA in Finance at the Loyola University Quinlan School of Business.
Who are you really?
Slightly nerdy and extremely curious.
My personal history is very global. It includes being the former Midwest President of US-India Chamber of Commerce, active Ambassador for Concern Worldwide USA, and a longtime member of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. My youth was spent in New Zealand, Australia, and France with my 11 siblings. My oldest son is fluent in six languages. Sadly, I am only slightly conversational in Spanish and French.
Currently, I devote my time as the Chair of the Board of Directors of Josephinum Academy of the Sacred Heart. Creating educational and career opportunities for young women in Chicago, who are from under-resourced families and neighborhoods, is another passion of mine.
